In Florida, we have a dual system for drivers license suspension. The court may order a drivers license suspension, or you may receive an administrative drivers license suspension from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The 2 systems work independently of each other. If you were charged with 2 DUIs, the court and the Department of Motor Vehicles may treat them differently.
The court, for example, might suspend your license, depending on the case, for 6 months to 1 year, while the DMV might treat the 2 DUI charges separately, resulting in a longer drivers license suspension.
With so much at stake, it is important you have experienced DUI defense attorneys on your side. The attorneys at Bauer Crider & Parry have 130 years of combined legal experience in drivers license suspension and related DUI defense.
Contact our law offices in Tampa, Clearwater or Port Richey for a free initial consultation with a qualified DUI defense attorney.
Our attorneys are committed to helping you get a restricted license after a drivers license suspension. We understand that public transit is scarce in Florida, and that you need to get to work.
We can schedule an administrative hearing with the Department of Motor Vehicles to request a hardship reinstatement or restrictive license. You will need to show proof that you have signed up for alcohol education classes. Depending on the charges, you will need to wait at least 30 days to qualify for a permit.
If you are convicted of driving with a blood alcohol level or BAC over 0.15, it will be harder and more expensive for you to regain limited driving privileges. Installation of the device costs $70, and the monthly maintenance and calibration fee is $67.50. You can either pay a one-time $100 refundable deposit or $5 per month for insurance.
If your BAC is above 0.05, the car will not start.
At Bauer Crider & Parry, we are committed to helping you regain your life after a DUI arrest. We are deeply involved in the National College for DUI Defense, which teaches other attorneys the art and science of DUI defense.
You may be able to regain driving privileges after even multiple DUIs.
